Callistus Bernard

Also known as ‘Abdullah', Callistus Bernard was an officer of the PRA during the Grenada Revolution and was the soldier in charge of the firing squad at Fort Rupert on Bloody Wednesday, October 19, 1983.

During the final week of the Grenada Revolution, Bernard was brought in from Carriacou to oversee security at Mount Wheldale during Grenada Prime Minister Maurice Bishop's house arrest.

Bernard became one of the Grenada 17 and was imprisoned in 1983 for his role in the execution of Bishop and Bishop's supporters. He was released in 2009.
