On the island of Grenada in the parish of St. Georges, during the Grenada Revolution, Mount Wheldale was the location of the official residences of Grenada Prime Maurice Bishop and Deputy Prime Minister Bernard Coard.
On October 13, 1983 Bishop was placed under house arrest at Mount Wheldale by members of his own political party until he was freed by a crowd of supporters six days later on October 19, 1983.
The homes of Bishop and Coard were practically next door to one another and shared the same courtyard.
