In Grenada, The People's Revolutionary Army (PRA) was formed as a result of People's Law #7 in 1979 and operated as the military division of the New Jewel Movement during the Grenada Revolution.
With less than 300 soldiers, the small military force was armed with light weapons: AK47s, light machine guns, anti-tank rockets plus eight (8) Soviet BTR 60 APCs and two (2) BRDM2 amphibious scout cars.
Prior to the 1979 coup, this military group secretly operated as the National Liberation Army (NLA).
