Following the takeover of Grenada Prime Minister, Eric Gairy's regime on March 13, 1979, the New Jewel Movement announced that the People's Revolutionary Government was in power.
The PRG suspended the constitution and implemented 63 People's Laws instead.
The United States assisted in the dissolution of the PRG following an invasion of Grenada on October 25, 1983.
