Movement (NJM), an elite group of 15 to 16 top party leaders set the policy goals and chartered the path of the NJM to socialism through careful Marxist-Leninist ideologies. \u00a0This group was known as the Central Committee and was chaired by Maurice Bishop.<\/p>\n<p>Membership in the Central Committee was restricted to full or candidate members of the NJM.\u00a0 The committee would meet monthly.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the NJM Central Committee included:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maurice Bishop &#8211; Chair<\/li>\n<li>Bernard Coard &#8211; until his resignation in November 1982<\/li>\n<li>George Louison &#8211; until his expulsion in October 1983<\/li>\n<li>Unison Whiteman<\/li>\n<li>Liam James<\/li>\n<li>Hudson Austin<\/li>\n<li>Kenrick Radix &#8211; until his sudden resignation from the party in 1982<\/li>\n<li>Fitzroy Bain<\/li>\n<li>Phyllis Coard<\/li>\n<li>Leon Cornwall<\/li>\n<li>John Ventour<\/li>\n<li>Ewart Layne<\/li>\n<li>Caldwell Taylor &#8211; until he was removed in<\/li>\n<li>Ian St. Bernard<\/li>\n<li>Dave Bartholomew<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By the summer of 1983 two factions evolved within the Central Committee; one in support of Maurice Bishop and the other with loyalty to Bernard Coard.\u00a0 This split led to the demise of the NJM and the end of the Grenada Revolution.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An elite group who made the key
